CD PROJEKT RED announced during a panel at Anime Expo 2025 that a new standalone 10-episode anime series in the Cyberpunk 2077 series is in production, with studio TRIGGER once again in charge of the animation production. Netflix will stream the new series in the future.
A new main visual poster illustrated by Ichigo Kanno was also released, along with the series’ official logo.

Netflix also posted a teaser trailer of the new project on its official YouTube channel.
The new anime is titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 and will be directed by Kai Ikarashi (Cyberpunk Edgerunners episode 6 animation director), who takes over from Hiroyuki Imaishi (Kill La Kill, Promare), who helmed the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series.
The first series was released on Netflix on September 13, 2022 for 10 total episodes. The series won “Anime of the Year” at the seventh Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2023 and “Best Anime Series” at the IGN Awards. It was also a nominee for “Best Adaptation” at the 2022 Game Awards.
The anime series itself is inspired by the 2020 open world sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt Red, which is in turn set in the world created by Mike Pondsmith for the Cyberpunk tabletop RPG.
A prequel manga titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS began serialization on KADOKAWA’s Comic Alive+ website on December 13, 2024. Dark Horse Comics will release the series in print in February 2026.

The series’ official website describes the main synopsis of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners as:
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner — a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.
