With only a few days to go before Cyberpunk: Edgerunners‘ Lucy joins the fighting game GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE-on August 21, developer ARC SYSTEM WORKS has released a Starter Guide video to dive into the character.
“Lucy excels at Neutral, with both high mobility and ranged options at her disposal,” explains the narrator. “Unleash a complex offense by applying debuffs with her hacking skills.”
If, like me, you don’t know what terms like Neutral or Roman cancels mean without having to look them up, the six-minute-plus video still offers a nice, flashy look at how Lucy and her arsenal/skills have been translated into GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE-, which is an eye-catching game to begin with.
Lucy will become available on August 21 as the fourth and last character of GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE-‘s Season Pass 4.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a web anime produced by TRIGGER and directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi. The series is inspired by CD Projekt Red‘s Cyberpunk 2077 open-world RPG, which is set in the world of Mike Pondsmith‘s tabletop RPG Cyberpunk, and depicted the rise and fall of David, a street kid who becomes entangled with netrunner Lucy and the group of cyberpunks she’s with.
The anime was first released on Netflix in 2022 and was recently announced to be getting a sequel helmed by Kai Ikarashi (Cyberpunk Edgerunners Episode 6 storyboard artist et al., Tengoku Daimakyo Episode 10 storyboard artist and director et al.).
Meanwhile, GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE- is the latest installment of the Guilty Gear series that dates back to 1998. It was first released in 2021 on some platforms and is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. Its story component is described as:
Head into the final confrontation with That Man, the person responsible for all the destruction and damage to the world and and it’s inhabitants. Join Sol Badguy, his rival Ky Kiske, and a total starting roster of 15 unique characters as they face the astonishing conclusion to a story 20 years in the making!
A Guilty Gear anime, GUILTY GEAR STRIVE: DUAL RULERS, premiered earlier this year.
