About a year after the announcement that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners‘ Lucy would be joining the GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE- fighting game as a guest character, developer ARC SYSTEM WORKS has released a two-minute trailer for the popular character, who will be arriving as part of Season Pass 4.

The majority of the trailer previews Lucy’s in-game moveset, which incorporates her Monowires, pistol, and even hacking, with bits of Cyberpunk 2077-style UI design added for good measure. The footage is accompanied by monologuing from Lucy (who seems to have been transported to the GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE- world while entering cyberspace) and, in the second half, everyone’s favorite Cyberpunk: Edgerunners song, “I Really Want to Stay at Your House.”

“Was deep in the net. Looking for something, I suppose,” Lucy says shortly after the song kicks in. “Yes, I got sloppy, or I got popped by a rogue AI. Either way, not my finest hour. He was so close, just out of reach. Why’s my heart pounding? Who is he? Someone I care for? Lost? Forgot? What if I let it happen all over again? I need to find him.”

Lucy will be dropping into the game on August 21, as the fourth and last character of the Season Pass.

The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime (produced by TRIGGER, directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi) was first released on Netflix in 2022. Inspired by CD Projekt Red‘s Cyberpunk 2077 open-world RPG (which is set in the world of  Mike Pondsmith‘s tabletop RPG Cyberpunk), it depicted the rise and fall of David, a street kid who becomes entangled with netrunner Lucy and the group of cyberpunks she’s with.

GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE-, the latest installment of the Guilty Gear series that dates back to 1998, was first released in 2021 on some platforms and is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One,  Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. Its story component is described as:

Head into the final confrontation with That Man, the person responsible for all the destruction and damage to the world and and it’s inhabitants. Join Sol Badguy, his rival Ky Kiske, and a total starting roster of 15 unique characters as they face the astonishing conclusion to a story 20 years in the making!

Beyond the GUILTY GEAR -STRIVE collaboration, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is getting a sequel helmed by Kai Ikarashi (Cyberpunk Edgerunners Episode 6 storyboard artist et al., Tengoku Daimakyo Episode 10 storyboard artist and director et al.). It also has an ongoing prequel spin-off titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, which allows fans to follow fan-favorite character Rebecca and her brother Pilar during their younger days.

The Guilty Gear series has its own anime, GUILTY GEAR STRIVE: DUAL RULERS, which premiered earlier this year.
