The new Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast for Spirits season will premiere in the Fall 2025 anime season. It is based on the KADOKAWA-published light novel series written by Midori Yuma and illustrated by Laruha, which is published under the Fujimi L Bunko label and ran from 2015 to 2022 with 12 volumes. Crunchyroll describes the 2018 first anime season as:
After losing her grandfather, Aoi—a girl who can see spirits known as ayakashi—is suddenly approached by an ogre. Demanding she pay her grandfather’s debt, he makes a huge request: her hand in marriage! Refusing this absurd offer, Aoi decides to work at the Tenjin-ya bed and breakfast for the ayakashi to pay back what her family owes.
The light novels have inspired two manga adaptations, the first published by KADOKAWA and the second by Kodansha. Viz Media has licensed the former.
