After the broadcast of its first cour finale, the official website and Twitter/X for Dr. Stone Science Future announced that the anime will return with a second occur in July 2025. The fourth and final season of Dr. Stone first aired in Japan on January 9, 2025 and will run for three split cours. The first cour contained 12 total episodes.

Shuhei Matsushita (Dr. Stone Ryusei and Dr. Stone New World) is directing the fourth season, with Kurasumi Sunayama (The Healer Who Was Banished From His Party, Is, in Fact, the Strongest) as series screenwriter. TMS Entertainment is in charge of the animation production.

The first season of Dr. Stone began airing in 2019. The third season, Dr. Stone: New World, started its first cour in April 2023 and the second cour in October 2023. Crunchyroll, bilibili, and iQIYI streamed New World overseas.
The anime series is based on the adventure science fiction manga written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi, which ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from March 6, 2017 to March 7, 2022 and released 27 total tankobon volumes. VIZ Media releases the manga series in English.
