Ryoko Kui‘s Delicious in Dungeon fantasy manga series has won “Best Manga” category at this year’s Harvey Awards, which took place at New York Comic 2024.
Yen Press editor Thomas McAlister accepted the award on Kui’s behalf, and released her statement on receiving the award, saying it was inspiring and motivating for her, as she works on her next series.

The other nominees in the Best Manga category included:

The late Dragon Ball franchise creator Akira Toriyama was also inducted as one of five new members in the Harvey Awards’ Hall of Fame earlier this week.
The manga series ran in Enterbrain’s Harta magazine on February 14, 2014 and ended on September 15, 2023. Fourteen total tankobon volumes were released. Yen Press releases the manga in English.

The manga inspired a 24-episode TV anime series from Trigger, with the production of a second season being announced this past June.
The annual Harvey Awards was established in 1988 to honor “outstanding work in comics and sequential art.” It has been hosted at New York Comic Con since 2017.
