Toshiya Wakabayashi‘s Happy Kanako’s Killer Life 4-koma manga is getting a TV anime adaptation directed by Shinji Takamatsu (Grand Blue Dreaming, RobiHachi) at Drive. It will begin airing in April 2027.
The story sees the titular Nishino Kanako unwittingly becoming an assassin as a result of trying to change jobs. Hana Tamekai is voicing the character, with Ryota Suzuki and Junichi Suwabe co-starring as Kanako’s new workplace senior Sakurai and boss, respectively.
Besides Takamatsu, the staff list includes Yoshiyuki Okubo (Teppen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing ’til You Cry, Symphogear XV co-main animator) as character designer and chief animation director.
Happy Kanako’s Killer Life began as a X/Twitter comic in 2018 and started serialization on Seikaisha’s Twi4 account in 2019. There are nine volumes as of May 2026 and a live-action series. Seven Seas Entertainment has the series in English.
