Japanese band Yorushika has dropped an animated music video for its new song “Beyond the Clouds, Only Me Downwind” (“Kumo o Nukete Kazashimo e Watashi dake”), which serves as the opening theme song for The Apothecary Diaries Season 3‘s currently airing first cour.
The stylized animation’s contents takes inspiration from the Hundun, a faceless winged creature from Chinese mythology. Director Ryu Kato (Yorushika’s “Aporia” and “The First Night” videos) storyboarded the video with Yorushika composer n-buna.
The two were also involved in the animation process with Mimei Aoume, who has worked with Kato in the past and is perhaps best known for their color pencilled Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 ending animation. Kato and Aoume handled the painting as well with Minako Kato.
“Beyond the Clouds, Only Me Downwind” is now available digitally on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. The Apothecary Diaries Season 3’s first cour debuted on October 2, with its follow-up cour scheduled to begin in April 2027. The continuation of the popular TV anime adaptation of Natsu Hyuga‘s mystery light novels, set in a historical Chinese-inspired setting, is streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
