A main visual and trailer have been released for the second cour of the ongoing Red River TV anime series. The anime began airing in Japan on July 7, 2026 and the second cour will begin with the show’s 13th episode on September 29, 2026.
The latest trailer also spotlights the second cour’s opening theme “Akatsuki no Hoshi” by voice actress and singer Nana Mizuki.
Kosuke Kobayashi (Waccha PriMagi!, The Master of Ragnarök & Blesser of Einherjar) is directing the anime series, with Yoriko Tomita (My Dress-Up Darling) as series composer and Kenji Fujisaki as character designer. Middle Eastern Culture Centre in Japan’s Kimiyoshi Matsumura and Daisuke Yoshida are credited with the show’s historical research. Tatsunoko Production is handling the animation production.

The original manga series by Chie Sonohara debuted in Shogakukan’s Shojo Comic magazine in January 1995 and ended in June 2002. A total of 28 tankobon volumes were released in Japan.
VIZ Media licensed the Red River manga for English release, describing the synopsis as:
Yuri, a pretty Japanese girl, is ecstatic after passing her college entrance exam and having her first kiss with her childhood friend-turned boyfriend. However, her luck soon changes. She starts to notice that water becomes agitated whenever she goes near it. One nigh, hands appear out of a puddle on the street and drag her into the water! Transported to an ancient village in the Middle East, she is then captured by armed troops and taken to the Queen’s palace for a human sacrifice.
