A trailer has been released for the GROTESQQQUE anthology’s “YOROSHIKU★Girl” short, which involves a battle royale fought between the girls of neon-lit GALs TOKYO. Watch the chaos unfold below:
It was also announced that the “GROTESQQQUE-グロテスク-” Songs & original soundtrack CD release will drop on November 6, the same date as the anthology’s theatrical release in Japan. Additionally, an early screening event will take place on October 10.
In “YOROSHIKU★Girl,” GALs TOKYO is home to a group of girls, called “Gal P,” with nowhere to go. Their goal is to be the winner, or “Queen,” of the game Queen of Butterfly. The truant Stella dedicates herself to the game after hearing of an urban legend, leading to an encounter with unknown girl with incredible power and the discovery of the Queen of Butterfly’s secret.
Sara Minami and Ikumi Hasegawa headline the cast as Stella and Unknown, respectively. Also part of the show are Saori Hayami, Maaya Uchida, Chika Anzai, Miyu Tomita, Rumi Okubo, Riho Sugiyama, Yoko Hikasa, and Rie Kugimiya.
Takahiro Miura (Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works]) is “YOROSHIKU★Girl”’s director, with other staff including character designer tarou2 and action director Isao Hayashi.
Atsushi Nishigori (Darling in the Franxx director and co-series composer et al., The Idolmaster director and character designer et al.) is the anthology’s overall director, script writer, and original character designer. The show is produced by CloverWorks, with JOEN and Aniplex credited for planning and produce.
Besides “YOROSHIKU★Girl,” the anthology features “A(E)LIENS,” about an alien goodwill ambassador, and “NOCTURNE: NUIT GROTESQUE,” a post-apocalyptic story about the vampire Ayame and the three girls who survived their infection by having their blood sucked by her. All three shorts have color designs by Kazuko Nakajima (Wonder Egg Priority, 7FATES: CHAKHO short film).
Fantasia Film Festival 2026, hosted the anime’s world premiere and describes it as such:
This electrifying film embodies Nishigori’s ambition to create something he is passionate about, with as much passion as he wants. Comprised of three episodes—“A(E)LIENS”, “YOROSHIKU★Girl”, and “NOCTURNE: NUIT GROTESQUE”—these distorted, uneven, yet infinitely beautiful stories melt and blend together like a chimera, galvanized into motion by the enthralling original score accompanying the film. A pop and edgy fusion of imagery and sound creating a unique world pulsing at the seams. Aliens, gyarus (gals), vampires… A story of “GROTESQQQUE” girls created by Atsushi Nishigori is about to unfold… World Premiere
GROTESQQQUE was supposed to begin screening in 2025 before a delay was announced last July.
