Two new main theme songs and an additional voice cast member have been unveiled for the second cour of the ongoing Red River TV anime series. The anime premiered in Japan on July 7, 2026 and the second cour will begin on September 29, 2026.
Voice actress Nana Mizuki has been cast as Ursula, who is an imposter of the goddess Ishtar, and will also be performing the anime’s second cour opening theme “Akatsuki no Hoshi.” She previously voiced Seiko Ayase in the DAN DA DAN anime series.

In addition, the second cour’s ending theme will be “flow feat. Yuko Ando” by Japanese group Ryu Matsuyama.
Mizuki joins a voice cast that include:

Kosuke Kobayashi (Waccha PriMagi!, The Master of Ragnarök & Blesser of Einherjar) is directing the anime series, with Yoriko Tomita (My Dress-Up Darling) as series composer and Kenji Fujisaki as character designer. Middle Eastern Culture Centre in Japan’s Kimiyoshi Matsumura and Daisuke Yoshida are credited with the show’s historical research. Tatsunoko Production is in charge of the animation production.
Crunchyroll is streaming the anime adaptation in select countries and territories worldwide.
The original manga series by Chie Sonohara debuted in Shogakukan’s Shojo Comic magazine on January 5, 1995 and ended on June 5, 2002. A total of 28 tankobon volumes were released in Japan.
VIZ Media licensed the Red River manga for English release, describing the synopsis as:
Yuri, a pretty Japanese girl, is ecstatic after passing her college entrance exam and having her first kiss with her childhood friend-turned boyfriend. However, her luck soon changes. She starts to notice that water becomes agitated whenever she goes near it. One night, hands appear out of a puddle on the street and drag her into the water! Transported to an ancient village in the Middle East, she is then captured by armed troops and taken to the Queen’s palace for a human sacrifice.
