The previously announced Haikyu!! “special anime,” Haikyu!! Bakemonotachi no Ikutokoro, has been previewed with an “action trailer.”
There’s also a teaser visual and two school-centric visuals, one for Fukurodani and the other for Mujinazaka. The anime will depict the schools’ respective aces, Kotaro Bokuto and Wakatsu Kiryu, facing off in the quarter-finals of the Spring Tournament.
Haikyu!! Bakemonotachi no Ikutokoro is set to be broadcast in 2027, the same year the Haikyu!! VS Little Giants (Gekijoban Haikyu!! VS Chiisa na Kyojin) movie will be released in Japanese theaters. The latter didn’t receive a trailer like its TV counterpart, but did get a concept visual:
Haikyu!! began with Haruichi Furudate‘s Shueisha-published high school volleyball manga, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2020 and is collected into 45 volumes. Viz Media describes the manga as such:
After losing his first and last volleyball match against Tobio Kageyama, “the King of the Court,” Shoyo Hinata swears to become his rival after graduating middle school. But what happens when the guy he wants to defeat ends up being his teammate?!
The Haikyu!! TV anime debuted in 2014, and there are four seasons as of 2020. A two-part Haikyu!! Final movie was announced in 2022, with Haikyu!!: The Dumpster Battle premiering in 2024.
