Crunchyroll has announced a “strategic collaboration” with FORVIA’s Appning automotive apps distribution platform to expand its anime streaming service across select vehicle brands.

Drivers will be able to access Crunchyroll directly from their vehicle’s entertainment system in select vehicle brands like BMW and MINI, as well as vehicles across the BMW Group and 40 other automotive brands. The service will be available globally for drivers soon, including in Asia, Australia, Europe, India, Latin America, and North America.

BMW vehicles will have Crunchyroll available through Appning’s in-app store, while TiVo will enable the service’s video content discovery feature that allows passengers to “explore personalized, curated Crunchyroll content.”

Appning’s store also has YouTube available as an app on its service. The company’s official website states that video playback for it is disabled while driving, but can be fully accessible when the vehicle is parked.

Crunchyroll shut down its ad-supported streaming feature in December 2025, but has continued to expand its service in other ways in recent years. Last October, the company announced the launch of the 24/7 Crunchyroll Channel on Samsung TV Plus for Samsung Smart TV devices. It also landed a distribution deal with YouTube Primetime Channels in October 2024 in the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia.

Delta Air Lines added select anime titles from the company’s catalog for its flight service, with SkyMiles Members having access to its full content library catalog through the Delta Sync Wi-Fi feature.

In addition, Crunchyroll is available on Amazon’s Prime Video channel selection in the US, Canada, Sweden, and the U.K. It also has a 24/7 linear channel in the U.S. on Roku Channel, VIZIO WatchFree+, and Amazon’s Freevee.
