Red Riding Hood: A Detective Story, a TV anime adaptation of the novel Once Upon a Crime, will begin airing in 2027. Yume Miyamoto stars as Red Riding Hood, who gets caught up in various incidents that she tries to solve, while Akira Sekine co-stars as Pinocchio.
Itsuro Kawasaki (The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting, the upcoming Shozen) is directing and writing the show at Benten Film. Among the other staff are character designers Manami Minakata and Yuko Yahiro (Kaguya-sama: Love Is War).

Once Upon a Crime (Akazukin, Tabi no Tochu de Shitai to Deau.) was written by Aito Aoyagi and published by Futabasha in 2020. It inspired a live-action Japanese film that debuted on Netflix in 2023.
The anime’s synopsis reads:
On the outskirts of town lived a girl called “Red Riding Hood.”
One day, she found herself forced to embark on a journey for a certain purpose. Strangely enough, however, she kept getting swept up in incident after incident along the way. Using her innate curiosity and clever mind, Red Riding Hood set about solving each mystery.
“Why is your criminal plan so sloppy?”
This is the world of a fairy tale everyone knows—.
