The official English cast for the ongoing anime series Though I Am an Inept Villainess has been officially announced ahead of episode three of the series. According to an X post by TOHO Animation, the English cast includes:
- Brianna Knickerbocker as Kou Reirin
- Rebecca Wang as Shu Keigetsu
- Kaiji Tang as Ei Gyoumei
- Aleks Le as Shin-u
- Lizzie Freeman as Leelee
- Mori Calliope as Kou Tousetsu
The official English dub will be available beginning July 26 on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix (Asia) at 8:45 a.m. PT / 24:45 JST.
Doga Kobo is animating the series, directed by Mitsue Yamasaki with Sumie Noro serving as assistant director. Yoshiko Nakamura is responsible for the series composition, with Ai Kikuchi as character designer, and Kei Ishiguro as color designer. Other staff members include:

As maidens from the Five Clans battle for the Crown Prince’s heart, jealous Keigetsu uses forbidden magic to swap bodies with the beloved Reirin. Switching places does not guarantee happiness for Keigetsu with her new body’s ill health leaving her hanging on the verge of death. Meanwhile, Reirin, now wearing the face of a scorned outcast, must answer for Keigetsu’s crimes in a dangerous trial.
The unlikely pair become increasingly entangled in each other’s lives and they will need to work together to survive after discovering the dark conspiracies brewing beneath the palace’s genial surface. To confront the deadly threats lurking in the shadows, Reirin must embrace her new identity and defy their expectations of the court’s inept villainess.
The anime adaptation is based on a light novel series by Satsuki Nakamura. It was first published on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in July 2020 before being acquired by Ichijinsha in December 2020, with illustrations by YukiKana. A manga adaptation with illustrations by Ei Ohitsuji has been serialized by Ichijinsha since onDecember 2020. Both adaptations are ongoing, with Seven Seas Entertainment serializing them for North America.
