The Kusunoki’s Flunking Her High School Glow-Up manga is getting a TV anime adaptation, with a teaser trailer previewing its depiction of the titular Shizuka Kusunoki and male protagonist Keisuke Shizuki. A teaser visual was also released.
The two lead characters, played by Tomori Kusunoki and Yuto Uemura respectively, are former middle school classmates who attend the same high school, where they have reinvented themselves. However, Tomori still has troubles and seeks out Yuto’s help.
Midori Yui (Love Flops co-assistant director) is directing the Passione and Hayabusa Film co-production, as well as serving as its series composer. Koji Haneda (Spice and Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf) is the character designer.
The Kusunoki’s Flunking Her High School Glow-Up manga by Mitsuki Mii is running on Ichijinsha and pixiv’s comic POOL, where its first chapter debuted in 2022. It will get its eighth volume on July 28, 2026.

Keisuke Shizuki might have been an outcast in middle school, but not anymore. The trauma of being rejected by his first crush left Shizuki with a phobia of pretty girls and the drive to remake himself and start high school fresh: new looks, new friends, new confidence. That is, as long as he avoids the cuties and anyone who knows anything about his past. Unfortunately for him, the prettiest girl at his new school just happens to be his former middle school classmate and another ex-outcast, Shizuka Kusunoki. Unlike Shizuki, Kusunoki still lacks the social skills to make the most of her new appearance—and she wants Shizuki’s help. But helping Kusunoki will mean spending a lot of time around a beauty, and drawing some not-so-welcome attention…
