The Insipid Prince’s Furtive Grab for The Throne (Saikyo Degarashi Oji no Anyaku Teii Arasoi) is based on the light novels written by Tanba and illustrated by Yunagi. The synopsis from KADOKAWA’s Bookwalker Global, which has both the light novels and the manga by Yukino Amagai in English, reads:

Arnold is a lethargic prince who is ridiculed by the entire empire as an “insipid” runner. But in fact, he is the most powerful prince with a secret identity as Silver, an SS-grade adventurer who manipulates forbidden ancient magic! The story of the strongest prince who plays the role of an incompetent, and his secret struggle for the throne begins!

The light novel series, which is published under the Sneaker Bunko labe, began in September 2019 and has 16 main volumes as of April 2026. The story started serialization as a Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel in February 2019.
