A TV anime adaptation of the Would you like to be a TANUKI? manga has been announced with a teaser trailer and teaser visual. Jun Kamiya (Let’s Make a Mug Too, Ys) is directing at NIPPON ANIMATION.
Other staff include Masaki Wachi as series composer and scriptwriter and Shin Takemoto as character designer.
Would you like to be a TANUKI? (Omae, Tanuki ni Naraneeka?) sees a tanuki called Maru Kogane seeking out people for the purpose of letting them become a tanuki. Various people with various difficulties end up rediscovering the important things in life through their respective tanuki transformations.
The Ichijinsha-published manga by Tomo Nagawa has been serialized on comic POOL since April 2021. Volume 10 will be out in Japan on May 25, 2026.
