The ongoing yuri x alcohol anime Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk has gotten a second trailer ahead of its sixth episode. It’s mostly a collection of scenes from the already aired episodes, but the very end features a yet-to-debut character asking the titular Botan if she likes dorm leader Ibuki Tonami, whom Botan has steadily grown closer to since the series’ start.
Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk (Kamiina Botan, Yoeru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana), an adaptation of the manga by Hei, began airing on April 10 at 24:00 JST (effectively April 11 at 00:00 JST). Its story revolves around several college girls who are dormmates, while the title comes from Botan becoming daring and capable of nonchalantly dropping lines that cause hearts to skip a beat when tipsy. The anime sports distinct identities for each episode, strongly reflecting their respective storyboard artist, episode director, and animation director(s).
Among the main production credits are Takashi Sakuma (16bit Sensation: Another Layer) as director, Shuntaro Tozawa (Undead Unluck Episode 4 storyboard artist and director et al.) as assistant director, Ko Yoshinari (White Album animation designer, Made in Abyss creature designer) as character designer, and Miyachi as sub-character designer and main animator. New university life, new dormmates…and a whole new world of drinks! Botan Kamiina takes her first sip of alcohol after spotting the quiet dorm leader, Ibuki Tonami, enjoying a highball alone. The manga began serialization on Akita Shoten’s Manga Cross in 2019 and will release its eighth volume on May 20, 2026 in Japan. It is currently serialized on Champion Cross.
