My Hero Academia is getting a short-form anime titled I am a hero too, based on a one-shot published in 2025’s Ultra Age fanbook. The contents involve a teenage Eri visiting U.A. High School.
The announcement was made shortly before the release of the My Hero Academia extra episode, “More” (“No.170+1”), which is based on the manga’s 431st chapter and catches up with Deku and his class eight years after their graduation from U.A. High School.
The My Hero Academia TV anime series debuted in 2016, with My Hero Academia Final Season (the eighth season) airing during the Fall 2025 anime season. The manga by Kohei Horikoshi was serialized n Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 2014 to 2024. Viz Media describes the manga as such:
Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all, gives him a chance to change his destiny.
The anime side of My Hero Academia also includes anime movies and two seasons of the My Hero Academia: Vigilantes spin-off. Outside of anime, there are video games and an upcoming Hollywood live-action movie.
A My Hero Academia concert tour will began in Europe and the United States in September. The concert and the two new anime projects are part of the My Hero Academia The Animation 10th Anniversary initiative.
