Daemons of the Shadow Realm TV Anime Debuts Character Visuals Highlighting Protagonists featured image

Six character visuals have been released for the upcoming Daemons of the Shadow Realm TV anime series during AnimeJapan 2026. The anime will begin broadcasting in Japan on April 4, 2026 and will air for two consecutive cours. 

The character visual showcases many of the show’s core characters, including Yuru, Migi, Hidari, Asa, Dere, Gabu-chan, Hana, and Jin.

Masahiro Ando (Sword of the Stranger, CANAAN, Blast of Tempest) is directing the anime series, with Noboru Takagi (Golden Kamuy) as series composer, Nobuhiro Arai (Bungo Stray Dogs) as character designer, Koji Sugiura (Hajime no Ippo character designer) and Yoshiyuki Ito (The Case Study of Vanitas character designer) as Tsugai designers, Yukari Goto (Bungo Stray Dogs) as color designer, Tatsuro Onishi (Insomniacs After School) as background art director, Zhang Yingying (The Case Study of Vanitas) as composting director, and Kenichiro Suehiro (The Eminence in Shadow) as music composer. Bones Film is in charge of the animation production. 

Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast stars:

The supernatural adventure manga series by Hiromu Arakawa (also known in Japanese as Yomi no Tsugai) began in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine on December 10, 2021. Twelve tankobon volumes have been released in Japan as of November 2025. Square Enix Manga & Books publishes the manga in English.

Crunchyroll will stream the Daemons of the Shadow Realm anime in select countries and territories worldwide. It describes the main premise as: 

In a world where certain humans command mighty supernatural duos called Daemons, it is the birthright of “the children who sunder day and night” — twins Yuru and Asa — to rule over these powerful entities. 

Separated from a young age and unaware of the truth of their birth, brother and sister must fight to make their way back to each other, claim their birthright, and save the world…
