Tank Chair Anime to Begin Airing in Fall 2026

The Tank Chair manga is getting a TV anime, which will begin its broadcast during the Fall 2026 anime season. A teaser trailer and teaser visual have been released.

Tadahiro Yoshihara (Star Wars Visions Volume 3 “The Bird of Paradise,“ the upcoming Sword Art Online: Unanswered//butterfly) and Hiroaki Ando (Kaina of the Great Snow Sea, Ajin: Demi-Human) are directing the anime at Polygon Pictures. The two are also co-writers, while Yoshihara is the series composer. Yuki Moriyama (Knights of Sidonia) is handling the character designs.

Tank Chair is based on the manga by Manabu Yashiro. Kodansha USA describes the manga’s synopsis as such:

Living on Guicheng Island, called “the most dangerous town in the universe,” is no easy task. Genetic doping is common for gangs to gain ultimate power. Shizuka, a young girl, takes on the most dangerous of assassin jobs, but she’s not the one doing the killing. Rather, it’s her brother, Nagi, a strong assassin who took a bullet to protect his sister, leaving him in a comatose state and having to use a wheelchair. However, Shizuka has figured out the key to waking her brother up: he must be faced with murderous intent! Thus begins a violent journey of recovery, battling the most dangerous foes!

The Tank Chair manga debuted on Magazine Pocket in November 2022 and came to Monthly Comic Sirius in November 2024. Volume 10 will be out on March 26, 2026 (JST).
