The anime film To You in the Beyond (Doko yori mo Toi Basho ni Iru Kimi e), an adaptation of the novel by Akiko Abe, has received a super teaser video and an October 9 release date.
Junichi Wada (High Card, Caligula, WorldEnd) is directing the movie, which sees a boy with a secret discovering a mysterious girl as she’s downed on a beach. Sayaka Kuwamura is the scriptwriter, while illustrator hechima ( Cosmic Princess Kaguya! Tsukuyomi character designer) is the character designer and chief animation director. The animation production is handled by TMS Entertainment Studio 6.
There will be an insert song from the artist Tota with the title “Balsam.”
Last month, To You in the Beyond was reported to be part of distributor and co-producer (the business type) Shochiku‘s 2026 slate, with a release window of fall 2026. The original novel was released in 2017 under the Shueisha Orange Bunko label and won the 22nd Honya Taisho Award.
