Fathom Entertainment has announced Gundam Premiere Night, a double feature screening featuring the Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Urdr-Hunt “-Path of the Little Challenger-“ compilation film (plus the Iron-Blooded Orphans 10th anniversary short Wedge of Interposition) and the 4K remaster of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Endless Waltz Special Edition.
The screenings (website here) will take place on January 12, 13, and 15. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Endless Waltz Special Edition will be in English dub for the first two days. Everything else is English-subtitled with Japanese voices.
In addition to the films, Gundam Premiere Night will feature a greeting from Urdr-Hunt‘s Rina Ikoma (Wistario Afam) and an interview about Mobile Suit Gundam Wing‘s initial North American localization. The interview involves localization producer Ken Iyadomi and Ken Morrison from Ocean Production, described by Unisco as a “Canadian media production and dubbing company specializing in English-language localization of animation and live-action content for global distribution.”
Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Urdr-Hunt “-Path of the Little Challenger-” compiles the animation segments from Urdr Hunt, a spin-off game of the Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans TV anime that had 12 episodes released (starting in 2022) via the now-defunct smartphone app Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans G. It premiered in Japan on October 31. The compilation film’s synopsis reads:
Gjallarhorn’s political intervention into the Arbrau central parliament escalated into an armed conflict using mobile suits. The incident was brought to an end by Tekkadan, a group of boys from Mars.
News of Tekkadan’s exploits has also reached the ears of Wistario Afam, who was born and raised at the Radonitsa Colony near Venus. Venus, which lost to Mars in the development race, is a remote frontier planet in which the four great economic blocs show little interest. It is now used only as a penal colony for criminals, and its inhabitants don’t even have IDs.
Then Wistario, who wants to improve the conditions in this homeland, encounters a girl who claims to be the guide to the Urdr-Hunt.
“Congratulations. You’re qualified to enter the Urdr-Hunt.”
Drawn in by this encounter, Wistario now stands at the threshold of the Urdr-Hunt, a race which offers a prize vast enough to easily purchase a whole colony.
As for the other two, Wedge of Interposition takes place after the Arbrau election events in Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans, while Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Endless Waltz Special Edition is a compilation of the three-episode Gundam Wing Endless Waltz OVA that’s set after the Gundam Wing TV anime. The synopsis for Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Endless Waltz Special Edition reads:
The world has renounced armament and is following the path of peace. Then Mariemaia, Treize’s daughter, appears as the leader of a mysterious army and launches an armed uprising to seize control of the Earth Sphere. Heero and the others must pilot their Gundams one last time to restore peace.
