The NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD (NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE) TV anime has received its second key visual.

The anime was announced a month ago and will begin airing in April 2026 following theatrical pre-screenings in Theatre Shinjuku and Theatre Umeda.

NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD is based on the 2022 game of the same name, which Steam describes as “a ‘multi-ending ADV’ depicting daily life with ‘OMGkawaiiAngel,’ a young girl with a rather extreme need for approval attempting to become the #1 ‘Internet Angel’ (streamer).” The game was also released on Nintendo Switch in October 2022 and later came to PlayStation 4 and 5 in 2025.

Shortly after the anime’s announcement, scenario creator nyalra publicly alleged that they did not receive “full compensation for my work” from Why So Serious, Inc. (WSS playground is a label of the company) and was “removed from the original-work management structure by their unilateral decision.” The WSS Playground X (formerly Twitter) account posted a response, with a part of it saying, “Since August 2025, we have been working toward an amicable resolution of disputes with Mr. Nyarura through our respective legal representatives, confirming facts and conducting discussions. We would also like to note that, in accordance with the relevant contracts, we have properly paid Mr. Nyarura compensation related to the game and IP revenues.”

On November 28, nyalra claimed on X that Aniplex producers had spoken with WSS president Daichi Saito regarding the importance of preserving creators’ trust, and that they believed that Saito would henceforth perform his duties with “respect and love for authors and the indie community.”

Update: Edited game info to remove developer mention.
