Tanya Degurechaff (Aoi Yuki) will return in 2026, which is when the second season of The Saga of Tanya the Evil will begin broadcasting. A teaser trailer and teaser visual have been released with the announcement.

The new season is directed by Takayuki Yamamoto (Negative Positive Angler Episode 3 co-storyboard artist and director, Episode 12 co-director). Character designer Yuji Hosogoe and series composer Kenta Ihara are reprising their roles, and NUT remains as the animation production studio.

Returning cast members include Saori Hayami as Viktoriya Ivanovna Serebryakov. Shinichiro Miki as Erich von Rerugen, Tessho Kenda as Kurt von Rudersdorf, and Hochu Otsuka as Hans von Zettour.

The Saga of Tanya the Evil (Yoko Senki) is based on the KADOKAWA-published light novel series by Carlo Zen, which sees a salaryman being reincarnated as a girl and becoming a dangerous soldier. Prior to Season 2’s announcement in 2021, there was a 2017 TV anime and a 2019 movie. The cast also appeared crossover spinoff Isekai Quartet.

The light novel series began in 2016 and has 14 volumes as of September 2023. Shinobu Shinotsuki illustrates the books. Yen Press’ synopsis reads:

High above the blood- and mud-soaked trenches, a young girl pits herself against army mages in high stakes aerial duels with bullets, spells, and bayonets. Her name is Tanya Degurechaff and she is the Devil of the Rhine, one of the greatest soldiers the Empire has ever seen! But inside her mind lives a ruthless, calculating ex-salaryman who enjoyed a peaceful life in Japan until he woke up in a war-torn world. Reborn as a destitute orphaned girl with nothing to her name but memories of a previous life, Tanya will do whatever it takes to survive, even if she can find it only behind the barrel of a gun!

The story was originally a web novel on Arcadia. There is a manga.
