The Evangelion kabuki adaptation, Kabuki Symphony No. 1 Evangelion, has revealed its key visual and its main lead. Kamimura Kichitaro will bring the iconic main character, Shinji Ikari, to life.
The play will perform exclusively on February 23rd, 2026 JST as a part of the 30th anniversary of the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series.

Alongside Kichitaro, Sakon Onoe, known as the “prince of the kabuki world,” will be playing as Kaworu Nagisa. Directing the kabuki play will be Kazuhisa Tobe, who is also the script writer. Kanjuro Fujima is in charge of the choreography, while Fumihiko Yamada is composing the music.
Kabuki Symphony No. 1 Evangelion production is a collaboration between Hideaki Anno’s Khara and Shochiku in celebration of the series’s 30th anniversary. It is part of the three-day ay festival called “EVANGELION:30+ 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION”. Taking place in the Yokohama Arena, the festival will run from February 21st to February 23rd and will feature a variety of guests, shows, performances, and a fan market.
There are three different types of tickets available: EVA EXTRA 30 Ticket, STAGE AREA Ticket, and ALL AREA PASS. Certain areas can only be accessed with a specific ticket. Overseas fans can now purchase their tickets on the EVANGELION:30+ 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION official website.
