The Drops of God manga (Kami no Shizuku) is written by Tadashi Agi and drawn by Shu Okimoto. It began in Kodansha’s Morning in 2004 and released its 44th and final volume in 2014. Kodansha USA has it in English.
The manga has also inspired a Hulu original French-Japanese live-action series, a second season of which will premiere on Apple TV+ on January 21 next year.
The anime’s premise reads:
World-renowned wine critic Yutaka Kanzaki has passed away, leaving behind a wine collection worth over 12 billion yen. His will states that his collection will be given to the one who can identify the origin and year of twelve wines he’s chosen, the “Twelve Apostles”, and one that’s superior even to them, “The Drops of God”.
Competing for the prize are Yutaka’s son, Shizuku, who received a world-class education in wine but rebelled against his father and has never drank a drop, and Issei Tomine, a young charismatic wine critic whom Yutaka had recently adopted as his son.
