That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea (Gekijoban Tenseishitara Slime Datta Ken: Sokai no Namida-hen) will premiere in Japan on February 27, 2026 and has been picked up by Crunchyroll for theatrical distribution worldwide (bar “most Asian territories”). It’s the second That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime movie, and its premise is described as such:

After concluding the opening ceremony of the Demon Kingdom Federation Tempest, Rimuru and his companions are invited by the Celestial Emperor Hermesia of the great elven nation – the Magi Dynasty Salion – to visit her private resort island. As the group enjoys their brief vacation, a mysterious woman named Yura appears. A new incident unfolds against the backdrop of the boundless azure sea.

The That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime anime began in 2018 with a TV anime. A fourth season was announced in 2024 with the new movie. There is also a spin-off titled The Slime Diaries and an OVA based on the short story that inspired the Scarlet Bond movie.

The anime is inspired by Taiki Kawakami‘s Kodansha-published manga adaptation of Fuse’s isekai fantasy light novels, which is serialized in Monthly Shonen Sirius and published under the Sirius KC label. The manga began in 2015 and has 30 volumes as of October 2025. Kodansha USA describes the premise as such:

As players of Monster Hunter and Dungeons & Dragons know, the slime is not exactly the king of the fantasy monsters. So when a 37-year-old Tokyo salaryman dies and wakes up in a world of dragons and magic, he’s a little disappointed to find he’s become a blind, boneless slime monster.

Mikami’s middle age hasn’t gone as he planned: He never found a girlfriend, he got stuck in a dead-end job, and he was abruptly stabbed to death in the street at 37. So when he wakes up in a new world straight out of a fantasy RPG, he’s disappointed but not exactly surprised to find that he’s not a knight or a wizard but a blind slime demon. But there are chances for even a slime to become a hero…
