A TV anime adaptation of the NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD/NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE game will begin airing in April 2026 after a theatrical pre-screening in Theatre Shinjuku and Theatre Umeda. Check out the first trailer below:

The NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD game was first released in 2022 on Steam, where it’s described as “a ‘multi-ending ADV’ depicting daily life with ‘OMGkawaiiAngel,’ a young girl with a rather extreme need for approval attempting to become the #1 ‘Internet Angel’ (streamer).” No voice cast for the anime has been announced yet, but we know that Masaoki Nakashima is directing it at Yostar Pictures. Yostar Pictures previously produced animated shorts for the game, with Nakashima storyboarding and unit directing those.

The game was developed by WSS playground and featured character designs by Ohisashiburi. It was released on Nintendo Switch in October 2022 and later came to PlayStation 4 and 5 in 2025.

Following the anime’s reveal, nyalra posted a statement (English version included) that spoke of how they were recently informed they would “no longer be participating in promotional activities for the anime” and had “not yet received full compensation for my work.” According to nyalra, “discord arose” between them and Why So Serious, Inc. (WSS playground is a label of the company’s), and they were “removed from the original-work management structure by their unilateral decision.”

WSS playground later issued its own statement (spotted by GameSpark), which said that nyalra’s contained “numerous factual inaccuracies.”

Update: Added mention of nyalra’s statement.

Update 2: Added WWS playground’s response to nyalra’s statement.
