Yo Chiba‘s Kindergarten Wars manga is getting a TV anime adaptation.
Atsumi Tanezaki and Kentaro Kumagai are heading the cast as Rita and Doug, respectively. The two are kindergarten teachers who also have the task of protecting the kids from assassins. Rita is herself a former assassin, with formidable power and a desire to date a hot guy.
Kindergarten Wars (Yochien Wars) debuted in 2022 on Shonen Jump+ and has 15 volumes as of August 2025. It received an honourable mention at the 3rd LINE Manga Taisho and has more than 1.7 million copies in circulation.
Yen Press describes the premise as such:
Rita is Convict 999, a former legendary assassin who now works at a kindergarten for the children of world leaders. Her job is to protect the schoolchildren from the clutches of would-be assassins sent after them! But even with her overwhelming strength, Rita has a weakness — she’s head-over-heels for good-looking men!
