An anime adaptation of the Gals Can’t Be Kind To Otaku!? (Otaku ni Yasashii Gal wa Inai!?) manga is coming in 2026.
Commemorative illustrations from author Norishirochan and artist Sakana Uozumi were released with the announcement.
Gals Can’t Be Kind To Otaku!?‘s premise involves an otaku and a gal classmate who may be secretly be an otaku as well. It debuted in 2021 in Coamix’s Monthly Comic Zenon and will release its 11th volume on October 20, 2025 JST. It’s reported to have more than 1 million copies in circulation.
Yen Press has the manga in English and describes it as such:
Meet Takuya Seo, an otaku who sits behind the popular gals in class, Ijichi and Amane. As people from different “castes”, you wouldn’t expect them to have much in common. But when their worlds collide over a borrowed eraser, Takuya slips up about his favorite anime, and Amane…is rather quick to correct him. She says she’s not a fan, but her familiarity with the series suggests otherwise. Could she be…a fellow geek?!
