The TV anime adaptation of The Ramparts of Ice, which was announced in January, has received a teaser trailer and an April 2026 premiere date. There are also main staff and cast reveals, as well as a visual.
Anna Nagase is voicing protagonist Koyuki Hikawa, who belongs to the unfortunate category of characters who are misperceived as frightening; as seen in the teaser, Koyuki’s terrifying and unapproachable image is the result of her weak human interaction skills.
In addition to Nagase, the main cast includes Fuka Izumi as Koyuki’s childhood friend Miki Azumi; Shoya Chiba as Minato Amamiya, who doesn’t put up barriers between himself and others and has no issues approaching solitary figures; and Satoshi Inomata as the considerate Yota Hino.
Mankyu (The Idolmaster: Shiny Colors, The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague, Migi & Dali) is directing The Ramparts of Ice at Studio KAI. The staff credits also include:
• Series composer: Yasuhiro Nakanishi (Chained Soldier)
• Character designer: Miki Ogino
• Music composer: Kanade Sakuma (The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen co-composer)
• Music composer: Natsumi Tabuchi (A Star Brighter Than the Sun co-composer)
• Source material co-operation: Margaret Editorial Department
The Ramparts of Ice (Kori no Joheki) is based on the manga by Kocha Agasawa, which was serialized from January 2020 to April 2022 via LINE Manga. It received a special award at the 2nd Shueisha Shojo Manga Grand Prix (which has LINE’s involvement) and placed first in Comic Natalie’s Tateyomi Manga Award 2024 in the Completed category.
Shueisha published 14 volumes under the Jump Comics label between July 2023 to February 2025.
