Masako Nozawa Joins Cast of Sanda TV Anime featured image

Veteran voice actress Masako Nozawa is joining the voice cast of the upcoming Sanda TV anime series. The anime is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan on October 3, 2025. 

Nozawa will voice Toyo Tetsudome, who is spotlighted in a newly released character trailer of the anime series. 

She joins a previously announced voice cast that includes: 

  • • Ayumu Murase as Sanda 
  • • Hiroki Tochi as Santa Claus
  • • Umeka Shoji as Shiori Fuyumura
  • • Anna Nagase as Ono
  • • Yuki Shin as Hitoshi Amaya
  • • Misato Matsuoka as Niko Kazao 
  • • Toshihiko Seki as Hifumi Oshibu
  • • Hiroaki Hirata as Saburo Yagiuda

Tomohisa Shimoyama (Yurei Deco) is directing the anime series, with Kimiko Ueno (Ranma 1/2 remake series composer and co-scriptwriter) as series screenwriter and scriptwriter and Masamichi Ishiyama (Yurei Deco Episode 9, 10, and 12 sub-character designer) as character designer and chief animation director. Science SARU is handling the animation production. 

The anime adaptation It is based on the manga series by Paru Itagaki, which began serialization in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion on July 21, 2021 and ended on July 11, 2024. Sixteen tankobon volumes were released in total as of October 2024. Titan Manga licensed the manga for English release, and published the first volume earlier this month.

Amazon Prime Video will stream the Sanda anime series worldwide, and describes the main premise as: 

In near-future Japan with ultra-low birthrates, children are treasured but monitored. Santa is banned as dangerous. One snowy December 25th, middle-schooler Kazushige Sanda, descendant of Santa, is attacked by classmate Fuyumura who wants him to find her missing friend, Ono. “Santa, please find my friend.” To protect children from adults, Sanda decides to become Santa and fight the adults.
