The opening movie for The Vampire’s Bride: The Novel Game, an upcoming indie visual novel based on the concept of “Vampires x Military Uniforms x girls’ love” and set in the Meiji era, has been released by developer Waterfall.

Set to the song “Wisteria” (performed by cast member Yuka Aisaka), the opening movie highlights six members of a werewolf-hunting military group that pairs the vampiric Vampdolls with Bride Thorns, human girls who serve as their source of blood. Some (if not all) of the images were previously revealed in March’s teaser movie.

The Vampire’s Bride: The Novel Game is currently set to be released in 2025 on Steam and on DLSite. There will be two releases on Steam, one in Japanese and the other with English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese support. The latter is published by mirai works, while Waterfall is self-publishing the former.

The game is part of a larger dojin effort that also includes a manga, voice drama, and novel. The manga’s artist Sakaki Yoshioka is contributing to the visual novel under their other alias Saku Takano.

Here’s the game’s synopsis:

The era is Meiji.

Sana Shirafuji, who lost her grandmother and is left alone in the world,
knocks on the military’s door to become a “Bride Thorn” to make a living.

A “Bride Thorn” is a “ration” for girls known as “Vampdolls”,
who are specialized in combat.
Unaware of this, Sana accepts the military contract out of desperation.
On her first day of enlistment, she meets
Yukine Hanafusa, a beautiful yet disdainful Vampdoll.

Gradually, Sana and Yukine begin to understand each other.
On the first night of blood drinking,
they discover that the act of drinking blood brings physical and emotional exhilaration.
Despite their awkwardness, they experience their first blood drinking together.

Some time later, Yukine becomes incapacitated during a certain operation…
