The anime adventures of the Togenashi Togeari band are not over — ahead of the October 3 JST debut of the Girls Band Cry anime’s Seishun Kyousou Kyoku compilation movie, it has been announced that a new theatrical movie will be produced.
There’s no release date or promotional video at this stage, but we do get a visual of vocalist Nina Iseri standing angrily in front of a red backdrop, mirroring a promotional illustration from the Girls Band Cry project’s early days. It’s not Girls Band Cry if there isn’t an angry Nina.
The movie’s existence comes amidst a series of other reveals for the Girls Band Cry project. One of these is a teaser trailer and title reveal for the Girls Band Cry First Riff game, which will be present at this week’s Tokyo Game Show 2025. The game’s genre description is currently being kept under wraps.
Meanwhile, a Zepp tour named Hakudo no Mirai will occupy Togenashi Togeari from February 11, 2026 JST to March 14, 2026 JST, with KT Zepp Yokohama being the starting location and Zepp Diver City Tokyo being the last stop. An earlier concert, Togenashi Togeari “4th ONE-MAN LIVE ‘Kyousou no Hibiki’,” will get a Blu-ray and DVD release on October 22, 2025 JST.
For readers, a making of book (featuring another angry Nina on the cover) published by Genkosha will launch on November 14, 2025 JST.
The Toei Animation-produced Girls Band Cry project began in 2023, with the TV anime debuting in April 2024. Another compilation movie with the subtitle Naa, Mirai — the Part 2 to Seishun Kyousou Kyoku‘s Part 1 — will premiere on November 14, 2025 JST.
The Girls Band Cry anime was not readily available overseas when it was airing, with streaming limited to France’s Animation Digital Network and South Korea’s Aniplus, and later in Indonesia via CATCHPLAY+. The show became available digitally in North America afterwards.

Toei Animation describes the premise of Girls Band Cry as such:
The main character drops out of high school in her second year, and aims at entering a university while working alone in Tokyo. A girl is betrayed by her friends and doesn’t know what to do. Another girl is abandoned by her parents, and tries to survive in the city by doing part-time jobs. This world lets us down all the time. Nothing goes as planned. But we want something that we can continue to like. We believe there’s a place where we belong. That’s why we sing.
The member lineup for Togenashi Togeari includes Rina as vocalist Nina Iseri, Yuri as guitarist Momoka Kawaragi, Mirei as drummer Subaru Awa, Natsu as keyboardist Tomo Ebizuka, and Shuri as bassist Rupa.
Mirei and Natsu went on hiatus in 2024 due to health reasons and returned to voice recording activities in April 2025. On September 12 JST, it was announced that the two will miss a Budokan appearance on September 23 JST due to their condition.
