My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is based on the Shueisha-published manga drawn by Betten Court and written by Hideyuki Furuhashi. Viz Media describes the manga’s premise as such:

Koichi Haimawari couldn’t make the cut to become an official hero, so he uses his modest Quirk to do good deeds in his spare time. Then one day a fateful encounter with some local thugs leads him to team up with two other unlikely heroes. None of them really know what they’re doing, but they’ve got the courage—or foolishness—to try. But they soon discover fighting evil takes more than just being brave…

The manga debuted in 2016 and concluded in 2022, though it briefly returned with an April 2025 one-shot. The series has been collected into 15 volumes.

Before the new season of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes airs, fans of My Hero Academia will be able to experience the next season of the main series’ adaptation, My Hero Academia Final Season, during the Fall 2025 anime season.
