Tsuburaya Productions and Toei Animation are co-producing a CG anime titled Kaiju Decode: The Ring of Aidara.

This is part of the larger Kaiju Decode project, which previously saw the creation of a short anime and VR animation.

The new anime is “themed around the story of a ‘Kaiju’ and a girl,” and is set in Sakai. Part of the official description reads:

A youth named Maru lives in the peaceful City, a society freed from the restrictions of the body, mind, space, and time. In contrast, a girl named Coco, a member of the Aidara Tribe, resides in the Zone, a treacherous area also inhabited by incredible beasts. The story revolves around two opposing characters seeking a path into a shared future.

September 12 JST saw the release of an illustration for Kaiju Decode: The Ring of Aidara from JNTHED (Urusei Yatsura remake and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury co-mechanical designer, Spriggan [Netflix] production designer).

October 19 JST will see the launch of a talk event with voice actor Hiroaki Miura and Toei Animation producer Koichi Noguchi about the film’s production and more at Sakai City Hall. There will also be a PR booth with a Kaiju Decode “super multiverse MR game.”

The Kaiju Decode project was announced at Tsuburaya Convention 2019.

Update: Removed “film” as part of the anime’s description due to the lack of such wording in the Japanese version of the Sakai Film Office website.
