Crunchyroll has announced that it will stream the romantic comedy TV anime series You Can’t Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! when it premieres in 2026. The anime will be streamed on Crunchyroll worldwide, excluding Asia.

The company also announced that it will premiere the first episode of the series during a panel at New York Comic Con 2025 on October 12, 2025.

The anime’s Japanese title is Osananajimi to wa LoveCom ni Naranai. Tezuka Productions will be in charge of the animation production.

Meanwhile, the main voice cast stars Rin Kusumi as Shio Minamo, Sae Hiratsuka as Runa Tsukimi, and Yu Serizawa as Akari Hiodoshi.

The anime is based on the childhood friend-themed romantic comedy manga by Shinya Misu, which began serialization in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket on March 22, 2022. Seventeen tankobon volumes have been released as of September 2025.

Crunchyroll describes the main synopsis of You Can’t Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! as:

Eeyuu, a high school boy, has a problem! Shio and Akari, his two childhood friends who go to the same high school, are too cute! They have no intentions, but if they find out that he is the only one looking at them sexually now that they’ve grown up… it would be so embarrassing! On the other hand, the two childhood friends also have their own secrets…? It’s too tantalizing!! Complicated! But childhood friends are the best! A sweet, impatient, and twisted love triangle romantic comedy.
