Frontier Works Inc., part of Animate Group, announced that it has acquired shares of Yokohama Animation Lab and will make it a subsidiary. This makes Yokohama Animation Lab the company’s first in-house animation studio.

Frontier Works stated that by acquiring Yokohama Animation Lab, the company can adapt its own IPs and other IPs, in addition to exploring other anime-related opportunities.

Yokohama Animation Lab is an animation studio based in Yokohama, Japan. It was founded in 2015 by former Production I.G producer Yuma Oue. They animated series such as Lapis Re:Lights, The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt, Whisper Me a Love Song, and many others.

Frontier Works, Inc, is a Japanese company and part of Animate Group. The company was established in 2002 and acts as the core company for anime-related businesses. It specializes in planning, producing, and managing licensing rights.
