The Ogre’s Bride is based on the Starts Publishing-published novel series by Kureha. The story is set in a Japan where humans and ayakashi co-exist. Protagonist Yuzu is a plain high schooler who is compared with her younger sister, the bride of a fox spirit, and treated unfavorably by her family. However, her fortunes change when she meets a handsome oni.

The first volume of the Yu Shiroya-illustrated series was published in 2020, and there are nine volumes as of 2024. Prior The Ogre’s Bride was previously a short story that won the Excellence Award at Starts Publishing’s first Novema! Character Tanpen Shosetsu Contest, which had the theme of “ayakashi x romance.”

There is a manga drawn by Jun Togashi, which won the main prize at Comic Cmoa’s Minna ga Erabu!! Denshi Comic Taishou 2023.
