Character visuals for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 have been released. One features Frieren with her old party, while the other shows Frieren with her current companions.
It was previously revealed that Season 2’s staff changes include the introduction of Takasemaru (Violet Evergarden), Keisuke Kojima (100 Meters), and Yuri Fujinaka (Frieren Season 1 Episode 22 co-chief animation director) as character designers, taking over from Reiko Nagasawa (takt op.Destiny).
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 is set to premiere in January 2026, with Crunchyroll to stream it worldwide outside of most of Asia (India and the Indian Subcontinent get to enjoy the show via Crunchyroll). It was announced in September 2024, one year after the two-cour first season premiered on September 29, 2023 JST.
The anime adapts the Shogakukan-published fantasy manga written by Kanehito Yamada and drawn by Tsukasa Abe, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Sunday in 2020 and has 14 volumes as of March 2025. Viz Media describes the manga as:
Decades after their victory, the funeral of one her friends confronts Frieren with her own near immortality. Frieren sets out to fulfill the last wishes of her comrades and finds herself beginning a new adventure…
The Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga won the grand prize at Manga Taisho 2021 and was one of the winners of the 69th Shogakukan Manga Award.
