AnimEigo announced the home media license of the 1983 anime A Time Slip of 10,000 Years: Prime Rose during its panel at Anime NYC. The anime special will be released as an HD Blu-ray in 2026.

The new Blu-ray release will include both Japanese audio and an English dub, as well as bonus features.

AnimEigo and parent company MediaOCD acquired the license from SkySet Entertainment, who previously released a 720p version of the anime on Blu-ray disc earlier this June. It was the anime’s first release in North America and its first English dub.

The fantasy adventure anime special is based on the manga Prime Rose by Osamu Tezuka, which was originally serialized in Akita Publishing’s Weekly Shonen Champion from July 1982 to June 1983.

A Time Slip of 10,000 Years: Prime Rose was originally broadcast as part of a Japanese TV charity event called 24-Hour Television: Love Saves the Earth. The main character, Prime Rose, also known as Emiya Tachi, subsequently became a popular recurring character in the Tezuka universe. She also appeared in the 2003 video game Astro Boy: Omega Factor

AnimEigo describes the main synopsis of A Time Slip of 10,000 Years: Prime Rose as:

In A Time Slip of 10,000 Years: Prime Rose, a powerful entity known as Death Mask hurls Kujukuri City, Japan, and Dallas, Texas 10,000 years into the future, reshaping them into a ruthless battleground where only the strongest survive. Determined to shatter this tyrant’s hold on time itself, Gai Tanbara ventures into the dystopian future. Along the way, he meets Emiya, a fierce warrior fighting to reclaim her city from the darkness. Together, they confront the horrors of a shattered world and the sinister forces threatening the fate of humanity!
