A new visual was revealed for the ongoing Uglymug, Epicfighter TV anime series after the broadcast of the show’s eighth episode on August 24, 2025. The anime first premiered in Japan on July 6, 2025.

Additionally, voice actress Chika Anzai has been cast as the new character, Karina, who is also featured in the newly released visual.

Anzai joins a main voice cast that stars:
- • Junichi Suwabe as Shigeru Yoshioka
- • Konomi Inagaki as Seika
- • Kento Shiraishi as Seiji
- • Maaya Uchida as Leeds
Toshiyuki Sone (Mob Psycho 100 II episode 12 director) is directing the anime, with Kenta Ihara (Ishura, I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss) as series screenwriter, Miki Matsumoto (Angels of Death character designer) as character designer, and Ryo Kawasaki (To Your Eternity Seasons 1-2) as music composer. White Fox is in charge of the animation production.
The series was first published on February 19, 2015 as a Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel written by Ryo Hiromatsu and ended on October 15, 2022. It was then launched as a manga series, with new art by Osamu Kozuki, in Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan magazine on November 25, 2017 and concluded on December 25, 2020. Six volumes were released in total. The MangaUp! Global app service publishes the manga in English digitally.
A manga sequel titled Busamen Gachi Fighter SSS began serialization in the same magazine on December 25, 2024.
A single physical light novel volume was also published under the Kobunsha Light Books label, with illustrations by Akira Banpai.

Crunchyroll is streaming Uglymug, Epicfighter worldwide, outsider of Japan, and describes the main synopsis as:
