The upcoming, Disney+-bound new Cat’s Eye anime has received a main trailer and key visual. Included in the trailer are scenes of daring nighttime heisting, interactions with the freelance writer Masato Kamiya and detective Mitsuko Asatani, and Ado‘s theme songs (the opening “MAGIC” and the ending theme “CAT’S EYE”).
It was also announced that the anime will have an advance screening event for its first two episodes on September 17 JST.
Cat’s Eye is set to premiere on September 26 JST. It is based on the manga by City Hunter‘s Tsukasa Hojo, which previously inspired two television anime seasons, a 1997 live-action film adaptation, and more. The story follows three sisters who are art thieves that steal the works of their lost father.
The manga was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1981 to 1984 and later received a special one-shot in 1985. Eighteen tankobon volumes were originally published under the Jump Comics label.
There have been crossovers between Cat’s Eye and other titles, like City Hunter and Lupin the 3rd.
