The emotionally gruelling Takopi’s Original Sin anime has ended with the release of its sixth episode. Given its contents, it’s not the kind of show where you’d immediately want to go back and revisit its “best” moments after finishing it, even though it’s compelling and well-made. But if its ending has you wanting more Takopi without going through the whole series again, there’s a new “conclusion” trailer compiling various moments that you can watch now.
There’s also a new visual — very uplifting in feel, in contrast to most of the show — featuring the titular alien, the friendship ribbon, and the words “Thank you, bye bye.”
In addition to these, there’s the announcement of the Takopi’s Original Sin‘s soundtrack’s digital release on August 13 JST. Expect a collection of 37 tracks from the release.
Takopi’s Original Sin is an adaptation of the manga by TAIZAN 5, which began serialization on Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump+ in 2021 and released its second and final volume in 2022. MangaPlus describes the premise as:
Takopi travels from his home of Happy Planet to spread happiness across Earth, but meets the unsmiling Shizuka upon landing. Her friends at school and home life seem to be the source of her somber expression, and the pure-hearted Takopi is determined to change things for the better! But what truths await him when the curtains rise in this shocking drama?!
The anime can be found on platforms like Crunchyroll and the Ani-One Asia YouTube channel. If you haven’t stepped into its world and the lives of its main characters, maybe check out our review of its first episode to see if you’d want to. It’s not an easy watch at all — the show has a content warning for a reason — but if you can handle it, it’s a compelling and very well-crafted experience that stands out this anime season.
