The upcoming Wandance TV anime adaptation has received its first trailer, which highlights lead characters Kaboku Kotani and Hikari Wanda and closes with a preview of one of Hikari’s dance sequences.
The trailer also features the song “Get Something Out of Your Mind” by Yaffle feat. Yujin Aramaki.
Aside from the trailer, it was revealed that the dancers providing motion capture for the respective characters are:
• KAITA as Kaboku Kotani
• KANATA as Hikari Wanda
• ReiNa as On Miyao
• YOUTEE as Iori Itsukushima
• YU-KI as Gaku Kabeya
It was also announced that Wandance will include over 30 songs, from artists like Aramaki, Alisa, Black Boboi, Daigo Sakuragi, FUNI, GZO, RIEHATA, URU, Scatman John, and more.
Wandance is set to premiere in October. It is based on the manga by Coffee, which Kodansha USA describes as:
Kaboku Kotani is starting high school, and he plans to do what he’s always done: go along with his friends, keep quiet, and not to draw too much attention to himself. After all, it’s hard enough to get by with a stutter like his—why make things worse by standing out from the crowd? But then he sees another first-year, Hikari Wanda, dancing like no one is watching—or like she doesn’t care who sees her. It makes Kaboku wonder: Could he reach that same freedom? To find his way to Wanda, he does something he never thought he could: He joins the dance club. After all, every routine begins with a single step, right?
The Wandance manga began serialization in Kodansha’s Afternoon and Magazine Pocket in January 2019 and will release its 14th volume on September 22, 2025 JST.
