The anime is based on the supernatural action manga by Mikihisa Konishi, which was first serialized on Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Blade magazine on May 30, 2014 until July 30, 2014. It then moved to the Comic Blade magazine on September 1, 2014 and has been published on MAGCOMI as of December 25, 2015. Twenty-one tankobon volumes have been released as of February 2025, with a 22nd volume set to be released on August 8, 2025.

Mangamo published the manga in English digitally under the title Petals of Reincarnation, which describes the main premise as:

Toya Senji is talentless. He’s tried everything but he can’t seem to excel at anything no matter how hard he tries. Then he meets Haito, a Kendo champion and… humanity’s protector? She uses the Stem of Reincarnation to draw on the abilities of her past lives, but it only works when she slits her own throat. And now she wants Toya to join her?!
