A new key visual has been revealed for the ongoing The Water Magician TV anime series ahead of its upcoming third episode, which features the protagonist Ryo and his friend, Abel. The anime began broadcasting in Japan on July 4, 2025 and will run for 12 episodes.

Additionally, creditless versions of the show’s main opening and ending sequences have been released. The show’s opening theme is “Blue Motion” by Meiyo Densetsu and the ending theme is “Tayutau Mamani” by Misaki.
Hideyuki Satake (Delicious in Dungeon assistant director) is directing the anime series, with Jun Kumagai (TEPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing ’til You Cry – Comedy) as series screenwriter and Yuka Kozutsumi (Love Live! Superstar!! Season 3 Episode 8 and 12 co-animation director, Episode 10 dance part co-animation director) as character designer. Typhoon Graphics and Wonderland are in charge of the animation production.
Other staff include Nana Yakayama, Riku Matsumoto, and Akiko Higaki as sub-character designers, and yumo as the monster designer.

The anime is based on the light novel series written by Tadashi Kubo, which was first published by TO Books on March 10, 2021. Nokito was the initial illustrator for the first two volumes, with the role later passing to Mebaru for volumes 3-6. Hana Amano is currently illustrating the series, as of the seventh volume, and is also acknowledged as the light novels’ illustrator in the anime credits. The series began as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro on April 1, 2020. Fifteen volumes have been released in Japan as of July 2025, with the light novels being split into three arcs.
A manga adaptation by Bokutengo was also released in September 2021. J-Novel Club releases both the light novels and manga in English digitally.

Crunchyroll is streaming The Water Magician worldwide, outside of Japan, and describes the main premise as:
