Kaiju No.8 Season 2 has received another main trailer, titled “The Will Lives On,” which includes a preview of the newly announced ending song “Beautiful Colors” by OneRepublic.
It was also announced that Kotono Mitsuishi is voicing Hikari Shinomiya.
Kaiju No.8 Season 2 is set to premiere on July 19 JST. The anime is based on the Shueisha-published manga by Naoya Matsumoto, which debuted in 2020 on Shonen Jump+ and has 15 volumes as of March 2025. VIZ Media describes the manga as:
Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight by her side. But while she’s out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defense Force, he decides to try out for the squad once more. There’s just one problem—he’s made the Defense Force’s neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.
Season 1 had its premiere in April 2024. A compilation of that season and the Hoshina’s Day Off special were theatrically screened simultaneously for three weeks beginning on March 28 JST.
Like before, Season 2’s distribution plans include streaming via X (formerly Twitter). Crunchyroll and Ani One Asia ULTRA will be streaming the new season.
